Bengaluru: KSRTC hires private agencies to supply drivers – First … –

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (MS)
Bengaluru, Aug 6: KSRTC has outsourced the recruitment of 350 drivers at a cost of Rs 10 crore to a private company. This is the first time the state bus transport organization is opting for the services of a private agency for recruitment.
KSRTC is facing shortage of drivers as many have left Mangaluru, Puttur and Chamarajanagar depots on transfer.
A senior officer of KSRTC said that this system is aimed at fulfilling the shortage of personnel in various departments. Successful bidding company will provide 150 drivers to Mangaluru, 100 to Puttur and 50 each to Ramanagara and Chamarajanagar.

KSRTC senior officer says that they do not get permission from government to recruit drivers. The present lot is not willing to work in areas like Mangaluru and Puttur. KSRTC needs at least 1,000 additional drivers and the management is expecting to fulfil this shortage through this tender.
This will also reduce the overheads of the organization. At present the corporation is paying a minimum salary of Rs 23,000 per driver for 25 days of attendance.
The drivers nominated by the private agency will not get any allowances. Many conditions will be imposed on such recruits to maintain safety, which includes fines for violation. In case of any kind of unruly behaviour and cheating by drivers, the supplying company will be held responsible.
The contract will be given to the bidder who seeks minimum commission. BMTC is already begun making a study to reduce the manpower by removing conductors on routes that are not busy and deputing them on some other routes.
H V Ananta Subba Rao of KSRTC staff and workers federation said, “This is a clear step towards privatization of KSRTC. This is a big blow to the idea of public transport. The work of a driver is very skilful and involves many dangers. How can we expect that they will work for just Rs 25,000? A private employee will never be committed like a KSRTC employee.”
I like to work with ksrtc Karnataka, I have experience in heavy vehicles.
First we r so so so many members application for KSRTCin 2020 plz take drivers We r waiting for 2years
Drivers are not ready to work in Mangalore and putur depots and the same driver’s are ready to work for private contractors is this not a cruel joke.
“A private employee will never be committed like a KSRTC employee” – utter nonsense. //// The union leader raises a very important question though:”The work of a driver is very skilful and involves many dangers. How can we expect that they will work for just Rs 25,000?” . Infinitely more skilful and involving many more dangers is the job of driving the Country, State, City/Town Corporation, Panchayat and hence those who do that job need to be paid more than an airline pilot because they are responsible for the lives of millions of people./// The sooner the govt. gets out of driving buses, trains and water & air craft, the better.///The govt. is reqd. to steer the country using the fuel of “Rule of Law” and the lubricant of good, efficient and accountable governance.///The govt. indulge in providing facilities like bus services etc. whereever private enterprise does not find it profitable to run such a service. ///Yet, most of our villages are serviced by private bus owners(despite the bad roads); while the fattened govt. runs bus services in cities where there are already enough roads and other means of transport.///Without the private buses in villages most students would have had to walk long kms to school and college.
i intrested in the ksrtc job
Mr. Ashok R. will be the next Transport Minister!?
Bjpee will sell Karnataka to chor gujjus.
good newss MR ADANI might b intrested
Handing over govt institutions to private companies will only increase unemployment in the country and create further inflation and decrease in GDP. Greedy BJP is only interested in filling its own pockets by appeasing its Hum Do Hamare Do.
How much is 40% of 10 crores? We want to outsource the MP and MLA jobs. KSRTC ke pakode lag gaye.
This is the beginning, wait and watch.
