• Richard Clair Lewis made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for a contempt hearing charge. The contempt hearing is rescheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 20. Bond is set at $1,000 cash.
• Timothy James Leavy made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for trial charge. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Nov. 4 with the jury trial set at 9 a.m. on Nov. 16. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.
• Angel Lizarde Garcia made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for a plea hearing charge. The plea hearing is rescheduled for 9 a.m. on Oct. 18. Bond is set at $2,000 cash.
• April Rose Spillman made an initial appearance on a forgery charge and a theft-fifth degree charge. Jennie Wilson-Moore is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 21. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.
• Dominic Oshe Greer made an initial appearance on a contempt of court/violation of a no-contact order charge. The contempt hearing is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 15.

Accidents

• On Wednesday, Oct. 5, a Jeep driven by Kolten Eric Bader, 26, of West Des Moines, was northbound on Highway 330 at the intersection with Davidson Avenue when it struck a deer that entered the roadway resulting in disabling damage. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Bader Jeep was estimated at $9,500.
• On Sunday, Oct. 2, an SUV driven by Linda Kay Penrose, 69, of Marshalltown, was northbound on Highland Acres Road when it struck a deer that ran in front of the vehicle resulting in minor damage. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Penrose SUV was estimated at $2,500.
• On Sunday, Oct. 2, a Jeep driven by Alfredo Morales Macias, 32, of Marshalltown, was eastbound on Highway 30 when the driver attempted to avoid hitting a group of deer resulting in the Jeep entering the median and rolling onto its top. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Morales Macias Jeep was estimated at $4,000.
