Fredonia's Russo takes second at 9th-10th championships – Evening Observer

HOUGHTON — Mariella Russo stood out for the Fredonia Hillbillies at the Section VI 9th and 10th grade indoor track championships.
Russo, an eighth-grader, took first place in the in 9th-Grade Divison for the high jump and finished second overall. Russo jumped a personal best 4 feet, 8 inches in for the Hillbillies. Abby Lauer finished eighth in the high jump with a jump of 4 feet.
Katherine Fortna took fifth place in the triple jump with a personal best of 27 feet, 6 inches.
Emily McCann also had a personal best, running 54.5 seconds in the 300 meters.
