The number of job openings decreased by 605,000 to 10.7 million on the last business day of June 2022. Hires and total separations were little changed at 6.4 million and 5.9 million, respectively.

The June decrease in job openings was the largest drop since April 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the third-largest decrease since June 2017. The largest increase during this period occurred in July 2021, when job openings jumped by 931,000 to 10.8 million.
These job openings data are from the Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey and are seasonally adjusted. Job openings data for the most recent month are preliminary.
