HC acquits accused in Belagavi triple murder case
The High Court of Karnataka has acquitted the accused in the sensational Belagavi triple murder accused. The judgement of acquittal by the division bench of Justice K S Mudagal and Justice M G S Kamal came on the appeal filed by Praveen Bhat against the order of the sessions court in Belagavi which had found him guilty of the murders and sentenced him to life imprisonment in April 2018. Two Muslim girl students get NOC, one takes TC amid hijab row
Two Muslim girl students, who protested against the prohibition of hijab at the university college in the city, have taken no-objection certificates (NOC) from the college to join other colleges, while one was issued a transfer certificate (TC). Of the three girl students, two had held a press meet and questioned the decision of the university to strictly implement the uniform rule inside the campus. (PTI)

Tailor surrenders after killing wife in Bengaluru
A tailor in financial distress surrendered before police after fatally stabbing his wife in the neck and trying to murder his 14-year-old daughter at his residence in Mathikere, north Bengaluru, on Wednesday. Yeshwantpur police identified the accused as Dhanendra, 49, from Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh. The deceased was his wife Anusuya, 42, also a tailor. Their daughter Sahana is being treated in a hospital.

No ComedK, only CET from next year; Karnataka govt quota engineering seat fee up 10%

Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) chief commissioner Tushar Giri Nath said on Wednesday that Palike does not have ownership of the disputed Idgah Maidan in Chamarajpet.Giri Nath told reporters that according to available documents, Supreme Court and other court orders have said that "BBMP does not have ownership of the land although the ground was in their possession".
