Tinicum Township police on Friday night confirmed that the suspect is believed to have fatally shot a FedEx employee around 2 p.m. at the FedEx distribution center near the airport.
Police said they responded to that shooting scene and found the victim, Bart Masciulli, 51, of Levittown, fatally wounded inside a car. Witnesses told police the shooter walked up to the driver’s side window and fired numerous times.
The suspect, who Tinicum Township police did not identify, was later taken into custody by Philadelphia police “after he had an altercation” with officers in the city, township police said.
Masciulli was a 28-year employee with FedEx, township police said. It was not immediately clear if the suspect was a coworker.
FedEx said in an emailed statement: “We are shocked and saddened by this senseless act of violence. Our heartfelt thoughts are with the victim and all those affected by this tragic event. We are fully cooperating with the investigating authorities. Please refer any additional questions at this time to local law enforcement.”
