Pune Latest News Updates: Several parts of Pune city will not get water on Thursday due to urgent repair work undertaken by the state power utility on the supply to various water pumping stations of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). PMC has informed that the civic administration has planned for repair and maintenance at Parvati, Cantonment, SNDT and Vadgaon water works. The areas that fall under these water works’ jurisdictions will not get water, while Kothrud and Shivajinagar areas will get water at low pressure.
In other news, a day after Karnataka Chief Minister Basavraj Bommai said around 40 villages of Jat taluka in Sangli district have demanded their merger with the southern state due to water crisis, the district administration has said that none of the villages in question had sought water tankers from the district collectorate in the last five months. The district administration said there are 67 villages in the border areas of Maharashtra and Karnataka. “Of the 40 villages which passed the resolution 10 years ago for inclusion in the Karnataka state, only eight faced water crisis in May-June,” the admin said.
Veteran actor Vikram Gokhale continues to be in serious condition and has been admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) at Pune’s Deenanath Mangeshkar hospital. There is no official statement from the hospital following the family’s request for privacy. It has been reliably learnt that the veteran actor was admitted to the hospital last week. “He has multiple problems,” those in the know of Gokhale’s condition told The Indian Express.
